There are at least 2 ways to accomplish writing copyright and other data into 
the IPTC fields:
1) During importing from media of camera it's done automatically when the 
interface dialog is set accordingly
2) With the latest kipi-plugins you can edit EXIF, IPTC and comments of a 
selection of images at one go (Image->Metadata)
