is libgphoto2 compiled with libexif support? the newer camera models 
(including s2) use the ptp2 driver, if i remember correctly and these
need to have libexif support to correctly provide a 
downloaded/not-downloaded status (which decides whether a file is new or 
not) and also the file date.
