Indeed, that's what I want to do, start the new digikam, and trying to keep
the working ditrib version. You confirm what I guessed, if I want the new
kioslaves to be registered, I must do make install. But I think the side
effect is to replace all existing kioslaves with the same name.

New idea : if I make install in the $HOME directory of a "digikam" user, do
you think It's gonna do the trick ?

Thank you for your time, Tom. You know,..."lowering the entry barrier for
newbies". The purpose here for me is to offer a good french translation for
this fantastic soft (Picasa, beware !), and I'm not sure translating without
checking what's going on in the GUI is the best method.
