The bug is related to specific KDE Settings, large Fonts, or KDE Service
Settings. It is obviously not an migration issue (3.5 - 4.1) or database
issuse.

Proof:
In a virtual machine with a vanilla installation of openSuse 13.1 with a new
user digikam 4.1.0 (build 11.1 and 11.8) and KDE 4.13.3 the settings windows
can be opened, and none of the dialogs (database, collection ...) freezes.

I will try to change KDE Settings similar to the one used on my workstation
where this bug is a severe blocker at time of the installation, but also later
on, as all settings have to be configured in the kede rc file without gui.
