I'm following this discussion with an uneasy feeling... Please try to avoid the
mistake that the Amarok developers made, see bug 265567. There, the database
with ratings and statistics for each song identifies each device by UUID. With
the switch from HAL (KDE 4.4) to UDisks (KDE 4.6), each hard disk partition got
a new UUID, which means that everyone loses all playlist statistics, ratings,
