Summary: Prevent thumbnail building based on image size or mime
                    type
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel at kde.org
        ReportedBy: mathias.lindner at web.de

Version: 0.10 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Big images last usually several minutes to be loaded into the thumbnail view.
During this time digiKam and the whole system (on single core hardware) is
blocked.

I would like to have an option to disable thumbnail building for files bigger
than an adjustable size and/or for files of a special mime type. E.g. GIMP XCF
files last very long to be loaded. One could set 'xcf' to not be thumbnailed or
set the file size limit to 30MB.

They should appear in the album - I want to tag them. But their thumbnail
should not be built.
This might even be improved if the thumbnail of the equally named JPEG would be
used e.g.
