Summary: Improvement: case for generated filenames / file
                    extension
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Import
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: f14fjne02 sneakemail com

Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

Usecase:
I want to import from the camera.
The files on the cam are in uppercase.
I select to create filenames, e.g. by date.

Result:
The resulting filename prefix is in lowercase, while the extension in _uppercase_: pic2008***.JPG
On Windows this may not be a problem, but a mixture of upper/lowercase is relevant in the unix-world (some files xy.jpg, some abc.JPG).
So it would be nice to have a checkbox to select "all uppercase / all lowercase" for created filenames, as it is already offered in the import when the original filenames are used. Or just convert all to lowercase.

Strange: If I choose to import into file-extension dependent directories, the dir-name is in lowercase.
If you choose to accept this wish, you may want to align this together.
Thanks
