Fabien, when you have it already in your editor, I would suggest to remove
the second sentence

'It is designed to organize your digital photograhs on your computer.'

It's IMHO redundant. 1st sentence contains same info. Maybe even
 'for the K Desktop Environment' can be striped.  There's a big
K icon on top and from bug reports I know that digikam is also used
with Gnome, xfce etc desktop environment.

Different welcome pages would be confusing IMHO.  Better to have in the welcome
page links that fires up khelpcenter, that loads the corresponding albums, tags,
..., section of the handbook.

But having the welcome page for dates and search view too would be really great
(even for 0.9.1 ;).
