Hi all,

I think that version management will be welcomed at some point. I vote for version management. More often than not, I create more than one branch of a picture: an aggressive crop and a large view for example. The two pictures will become two "originals" from my point of view. Another example: sometimes noise reduction is required for on-line viewing but not for prints. Sometimes I want a color version of a picture and a black and white one, each pf this two pictures will suffer subsequent modifications (i.e. versions). Sharpening is different for on-line viewing than for prints and so forth.

It is nor possible, neither desired (at least by me) to avoid using external programs for picture processing. This is why I believe that Picasso style is not the answer (or not the definitive answer). Copies of the images with slightly different names are acceptable for me (this is what I am doing now actually) but it will be nice to be able to put more info in digikam's database and to have it displayed if required (a version number, a comment, created date, etc.).

A "full blown" versioning is not necessary difficult to use - the functionality is not related to the interface. We should not avoid functionality only for "ease of use".
