Your solution require a change in database structure (a new table dedicaced to store camera log or something like that). I won't changes anything in database to 0.9.0 release.

Secondo, an hash key for each picture from camera must be computed using the properties provided by all camera drivers : filename, file size, file date, and camera folder. We cannot use a md5 sum with gphoto2 camera driver (and PTP) because this will require to download the pictures to compute the sum!

This is have no sence because we want to identify the un-downloaded files before to process loading on computer. Of course, md5 sum can be used with USM camera, but it cannot be the universal solution...
