No, I have not yet tried this but my personal reason for this could probably 
not yet be satisfied by the drag and drop solution with KDE applications. I 
usually uses JAlbum to create my web photo albums and this java application 
is (running on linux) not drag and drop capable. It needs files in the 
filesystem. 

Another point for me to export the tag information into the filesystem was 
backup. If the digikam database should ever be corrupted I can easily 
recreate all tag information since this information is also stored in the 
filesystem not only in the database.
