Commit Review

Hey David,

Welcome to the Commit Digest Team! It's always good to see new faces. I hope you will have fun.

Right now, there are very few or even no commits to be reviewed. This is, since we are actually up-to-date with categorizing KDE development. :) But new commits come it every few hours (?). So it's a good habit to check the site maybe once or twice a day (or less often, of course), whenever you have time. I don't know whether there is a wiki, so I will give it a shot myself:

Log in and then click on "Review". This section will show you a manageable amount of commits, usually between 40 and 100 at a time. You browse this list and decide whether the commits are worth including in the digest. To include a commit, click the check-mark. To exclude a commit, click the "x". Once you are done with the list, click "save" on the bottom right. Saving will take a few seconds. When done, you are presented with a new batch of commits (if there are any left). If you do not want to review more commits, click on "Classify" on the left. This will bring up a list of commits chosen for inclusion in the digest. They will often be only yours, but you may find commits reviewed by others as well. Here, you choose which part of KDE the commits belongs to (often, this is already done automatically by Danny's wonderful scripts), and also what kind of commit it is (bux fix, feature, etc.). In the end, press the "save" button and you are done.

You can check how many commits you have reviewed and classified on the home page of Enzyme. Just click the top-left banner and you will see your stats. Please keep in mind that we would like to limit the amount of commits selected for the digest. The past year we often had a bit more than 100 commits per week. If this gets more, it means much more work for those creating the digest and also a flood of not all that important commits, which is less useful to the readers as well. In the past we had a debate about the intended rate of selected commits. IIRC, the aim was to stay below 7%. But I have bee out of the loop until a few weeks back, so I might misremember. Anyone?

Once all commits for a week have been categorized, the digest is created. For this, you click "Digests" on the left. But right now, there is nothing to do and I got to run. Just shoot us an email once you get a hang of it and we will tell you how to do digests. Of course, any other questions are welcome, too!

Again, welcome to the team! I hope we'll see you around.

Cheers, mutlu

Betreff: Commit Review

I am new to commit review at kde. I opened the site today and saw 4 commits that have a reviewer. There were no links to click or anything that I could foresee doing. Is there documentation on the process that I should go through or how to use the website?
