GSoC 2011!

I have a couple suggestions about possible projects:

1. Implement a plasma-based "Presentation view" containment for Stage,
with various elements (timer, slide list, next slide, previous slide,
navigation buttons, etc) that can be arranged and resized in a
drag-and-drop fashion. Users should be able to set up multiple
different views and switch between them easily. There is already a
presentation view, but using plasma would allow for a much more
flexible system than is currently available in any program.

See here for other implementations:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Presenter_Screen

2. Implement Prezi or Zippl-like transition capabilities in Stage. In
these tools, presentations are created on a single large canvas, and
as the presentation proceeds the view moves from place to place along
the canvas. The most basic would just use sliding transitions from
one fixed location to another, but ideally it would include zooming in
or out as part of the presentation, additional transitions, and
buttons that would allow you to travel along alternate paths.

See here for more information:

3. In Stage, merge the slide sorter, Documents panel, and custom
presentation interfaces into a single interface. It would start as a
panel with a button that would expand to act as the slide sorter, with
a normally hidden sub-panel to add and remove slides. Ideally a
drag-and-drop interface would be implemented for the documents panel
in the process.

4. Implement a Zotero plug-in for Calligra. Zotero is an open-source
reference manager. It currently has openoffice and MS office
plug-ins, but no calligra or koffice plug-in.
