Leadership! Navigation! Exploration! Not-very-tall slightly-bearded men jumping around on stage! When it's up, please check out Aaron's desktop summit presentation (https://desktopsummit.org/program/sessions/navigators-and-explorers-leadership-model-open-source-teams).
Anyway, I got talking with Aaron and got to feel we really need a roadmap. Maybe even two: one for Calligra Desktop, one for Calligra Active. Then I sat down with Inge, Thorsten and Shantanu (because they were within let's-have-coffee grabbable distance) and came up with two short proposals.
I want to keep it simple and short, hence the short "goal" statements and the short task lists.
------------------------------
Calligra Desktop
GOAL: The 2.4 release of calligra will provide dependable editing of ODF documents with a simple, fun to use GUI.
Open tasks are
* Testing
* Zagge: cstester automated testing on cruncher with reporting & roundtripping
* Zagge: Officeshots on our server
* Boud: Squish for desktop testing
* User interface
* Inge: create a list of all shapes/apps and what they should do on click (select, activate, send the click through to the tool or not)
* Fixing the text tool widgets to work nicely
* fix as many UI niggles as possible
Any other open tasks?
------------------------------
Calligra Active
After discussion with Shantanu, we arrived at:
GOAL: The first release of Calligra Active will be a capable, performant document, finger-friendly viewer for tablets that can pan and zoom smoothly and display office documents but not PDF.
Open Tasks are:
* integreation with the desktop search system for the documents overview page
* include a presentation mode (needs some hacking in stage itself to reuse stage's presentation mode)
* support search
* support select
* support copy
Long term goals are:
* support PDF (use the search system for finding pdf docs, poppler for display)
* support editing of text
* support editing of graphics
