this is me:

amarok 2.8.0 on an AMD FM2 A 10-5800k quad-core processor (3.8GHz) with an
ASUS A88XM-A motherboard, 16GB PC-12800 DDR3 RAM, running Kubuntu 14.04.1.

i ran system updates about two weeks ago. prior to running the updates, i
didn't have any problem with amarok, but after the updates, it hangs on
launch.

in the past, amarok just begins working again after a few days, but it
appears, at this point, like something is broken beyond repair, because it
hangs within 30 seconds, every time.

this is what i have done, with no effect:

1) i have re-installed amarok using

sudo apt-get install amarok --reinstall

2) i have removed the current playlist located here:

~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/current.xspf

3) i have run

gdb amarok

run --nofork

and gotten a whole bunch of text that probably means something to somebody,
but not to me.

at this point, i have switched to qmmp, because amarok will not work, but i
don't like qmmp as well, and i'd really like to switch back to amarok, if i
could get it working again
