UMS-based players in Amarok 2.3 - how to read existing tracks?

I don't see anything when I hover over the icon other than the eject
and wrench icons at the right hand edge. There is no green checkbox,
although there is a blue-edged one after the wrench item or the
Configure menu item is selected.

I've done that, but selecting the correct folder is not sticky and I
still don't see any tracks.

I have updated to the latest Fedora 12 packages, and now rebooted as a
fair few packages updated were from KDE and Qt.
