Not playing songs with spaces in file names?

this may not be helpful anymore, since you have gotten your music to
play, but for other non-KDE users trying to change to the xine engine in
ubuntu, the KDE settings panel that was being referred to can be opened
by entering:

kcmshell4 kcm_phonon

in the terminal.
