amarok + Sansa e280 + playlists = no joy

you have to effectively transfer the files to the device. when you say: add
files to the device you just put them in the queue  to be transferred. after
you've finished you look in the device applet and you'll find the files you
wanted to transfer. if you're ok with them click on  the start transferring
button on see them moving from the queue and appearing in the upper of the
device applet section. when finished you won't see the queue anymore.
this is due to the fact that it's better to transfer once all the files
instead of transferring them one by one (the dma would work better that way)
and would let you reexamine the files to be transferred (just in case you've
wrongly transferred files that you don't want).
