Hello.
I'm replying to this message from 2006, because I'd like to ask,
if this has actually been implemented by now in Amarok 1.4.8? I
am asking, because I find, that this does not seem to be done.
I'm using Amarok 1.4.8 on a Gentoo Linux ~x86 system. It's been
built with these flags:
I then added my media player as a "Generic Audio Player". I filled
out the options as can be seen on the following screnshot:

Basically, I setup MP3 as a supported format and set, that other,
unsupported formats should be converted to MP3. My MP3 player
does not support ogg (sadly...), but when I try to transfer an
OGG file to the player using Amarok, Amarok will just refuse to
do this. It prints a message to the effect, that the format isn't
supported.
What would I need to do, so that Amarok automatically converts
media to supported formats?
On launchpad.net, I read that the soundKonverter script should
be able to do that. I installed soundKonverter, but even after
enabling the script in the script manager of Amarok, it does not
automatically transcode stuff.
What's the correct way to get auto-transcoding to work?
Thanks a lot,
Michael
