I was cleaning out my hard drive today and noticed a strange directory
structure in my .kde/share/apps/amarok directory:

355M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/large
26M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/tagcover
21M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/cache
401M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers
836k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/undo
8.2k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts-data
312M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/albumcovers/large
27M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/albumcovers/tagcover
272M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/albumcovers/cache
610M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/albumcovers
4.1k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/magnatune.com/purchases
8.2k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/magnatune.com
463k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/undo
4.1k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/scripts-data
33k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/covershadow-cache
4.1k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/playlists
1.4M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/themes
95k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/scripts
64M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok/moods
692M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/amarok
226k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/covershadow-cache
13k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/playlists
107k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/weekalarm
111k ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts
3.3M ./.kde/share/apps/amarok/moods
1.1G ./.kde/share/apps/amarok

The part which caught my attention was the /amarok/amarok directory
and the large amount of information in both /amarok/amarok/albumcovers
and /amarok/albumcovers. Fairly recently (inbetween versions 1.4.5
and 1.4.6 I believe) I did a fresh reinstall of my os Ubuntu. I
backed up my home directory which included some of this data. Did the
directory structure change between those versions? Is the
amarok/amarok directory actually used? It doesn't look like any of
the files in the amarok/amarok/albumcovers/cache directory have been
touched recently where as some in amaraok/albumcovers/cache have. Is
it safe to assume that amarok/amarok can be removed? If not, what is
it doing there and why the duplicated folder names?

Thanks!
