Amarok crashes when using amarok wrapper, but amarokapp alone does not.

Hello all.

I am fairly new to Amarok. I have, however, done some research on my issue
before posting here. The problem that I am experiencing is that Amarok will
inevitably crash during just about any type of usage. I could be retagging
a group of mp3s, or just listening to a playlist. Within the first 3-5
minutes, it will lock up.

After reading through the forums, wiki, and other advice out there, I found
that running strace on amarokapp is the best way to find where the issue is
coming from. However, when I would use this technique, Amarok would work
without any issues at all. I tried and tried to reproduce the problem using
this technique, to no avail. This leads me to the conclusion that the
problem is related to the amarok binary, and not the amarokapp binary. I
know that amarok is just a wrapper, but for some reason, amarokapp works
flawlessly for me when I DON'T use the amarok wrapper. Am I losing any
critical functionality by not running amarok?

Here is some of my system information:
Amarok 1.4.4 (Compiled from source)
Slackware 11
Enlightenment "e17" (as desktop shell)
Mysql 5.0.24a (I get the same issues using the SQLite db)
KDE 3.5.4
Xine-lib 1.1.2
Ruby 1.8.4
Taglib 1.4
Nvidia drivers 1.0-8762
LibVisual 0.4.0
Libtunepimp 0.4.2
XMMS 1.2.10
K3b 0.12.17

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Charles
