developer feedback needed - patch for bug 148607

Hello!

Yesterday I reported a bug concerning detection of the correct iPod
model:

I implemented the solution that I had described in the bugreport. It
works out fine and I attached the solution to the bugreport.


I would be interested, if anyone else has already found that problem and
if my solution is appropriate for the described problem.
