rating queries

is it intentional that ratings are queried even when they are disabled 
in settings ?
for example, whenever i open tag editor upon a single track, a query is 
executed :

SELECT statistics.rating FROM statistics  WHERE 1 AND ( 0 OR 
statistics.url = BINARY './data/m/B/Big D and The Kids Table/How It 
Goes/01 The Sounds of Allston Village.mp3' AND statistics.deviceid = 8 
OR statistics.url = BINARY 
'./mnt/net/backup_1/root/space/sda/data/m/B/Big D and The Kids Table/How 
It Goes/01 The Sounds of Allston Village.mp3' AND statistics.deviceid =
