How about a clock?

At the beginning the icon is black and white, but as the song plays is
slowly fills in to color like a clock moving (surprise) clockwise.

This is quite intuitive IMO - saves faffing around with up-down,
left-right stuff.

I reckon we could argue now that it should start in color and become
black and white as the song progresses :)
