No special point. "Just" a way to control Amarok from outside. Like 
superkaramba applet, only better since you have TONS of skins, playlist 
editor, etc. For people who liked xmms/winamp, but couldn't live without 
Amarok :D. Some people discussed about creating alternative GUIs for Amarok 
with use of DCOP, and this is it. Only badly written :)
Or you can look the other way around: support for last.fm, crossfade and 
possibly other features (probably anyway available through plugins) in bmp :)
