I do think this should be done, although I'm not certain using the MP3  
frames are a good idea for a couple reasons:

1) Amarok supports more statistics information than the two MP3 frames  
allow.  For instance, we support "first play" and "last play".
2) Non-MP3/ID3v2.4-using files (oggs, flacs, etc.) would not be able  
to benefit from this.

However, adding a COMM (comment) field could have all of this  
information and be fairly portable across formats.  You can have as  
many comment fields as you like, so other programs wouldn't step on  
ours and vice versa (iTunes for instance uses two comment fields  
already), and we could use the same identifier and information across  
formats.  Doing this we could encode all of our metrics instead of  
just some of them.
