Your idea sounds really interesting, but I don't think that it will 
work, because for me it would need to query about 3000 artists for 
new albums.

But if it could be implemented, I think amazon webservices would be a 
good starting point to query for new albums, if they provide such 
information!? So if amazon does, maybe a smart algo could retrieve 
the information (only for played songs, or only for songs which were 
played in the last few days,...).
