Status of flac support?

Hi,

I just downloaded 1.4.2 and compiled it on my dapper installation,  
still no support for flac (I think flac hasn't worked for me since  
1.4.0 or 1.4.1). I remember reading something about that this would  
be caused in the xine lib/backend, my memory is vague though and this  
is some time ago. What is the current status for FLAC support? Is it  
xine's fault or amarok? Is there a workaround/patch floating around?
