I've just tested with an NFS share I set up on my NAS server. Works properly - collection items in the remote folder immediately appear and disappear as it's mounted/unmounted. I checked with state changes while Amarok wasn't running as well, which also worked properly. IMO we should ship for 2.6 if we can get another tester or two (ideally with a slightly older KDE version).
