Agreed. If the function was labeled "Filter playlist", that behavior would be 
more expected. A filter is something that selects elements out of a group, 
discarding non-matching elements.  So  the "Search playlist" should be 
relabeled to "Filter playlist" and the behavior be kept as it is. 

An additional search or jump feature might really make sense if the user wants 
to jump to a particular song without affecting the rest of the playlist.

I agree. The search affects non-queued tracks and thus should affect queued 
tracks as well. It currently practically temporarily removes elements  from 
the playlist.
