Collection setup similar to digiKam.

Hi All,

Excuse my ignorance, but I was wondering if there is any interest / 
objections / thoughts on the idea of replacing the current Collection 
manager with that implemented in digikam:

This would allow one to have Collections on Network Shares. (Digikam 
currently detects if these directories are available, and if not, 
doesn't show them.)
