Bingo: it is controlled by this file:
/usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kde4-profile/default/share/config/amarokrc
The thing that makes it so fun is that the contents of that file does
*not* end up in a new user's .kde/share/config/amarokrc; it is loaded
dynamically some magic way.
That file is not a part of package 'amarok'; no, it belongs to package
'kubuntu-default-settings'.
You've also got these files:
/usr/share/kde4/config/amarok_homerc
/usr/share/kde4/config.kcfg/amarokconfig.kcfg
(which has the normal 'true' value for "Show Splashscreen")
providing default values for new users.
Oh MS Windows registry! I take back all those things I said about you!
