Not a big fan of it at this point, as I had already said. First of all
the layout configuration dialog was already a bit cluttered and
confusing before adding an extra option, so I wouldn't add even more
complexity before cleaning it up. Then the controls duplicate
functionality that's already available in the toolbar. Last not least
it's questionable if playback controls belong in the playlist
conceptionally.

We have to be careful not to repeat the clutter of Amarok 1,
especially configuration wise. Presently some of our dialogs are
already approaching a similar level, despite original intentions to
keep it more simple.
