Did you bother to read the e-mail completely? Which engine are you using?

I'd like to track down whether this is a phonon-qt7 problem or 'non phonon-
xine' issue. If it's the latter then I think whatever brought about the 
_change_ from working pause to not, should be fixed. 
Unless amarok is only supposed to work with phonon-xine. If that's the case 
this should be stated explicitly. This way I won't waste your time or mine. 

By the by, if the project is ever going to be serious about cross-platform 
support then you'll actually need to guarantee functionality across the 
platforms which are supposedly supported.  
Pause is a pretty basic thing, not rocket science. The demo qt programs can do 
it on OS X, as can dragon. If it's not working then "you're doing it wrong." 
Again. This isn't the first time this specific issue has shown up.
