This might be quite interesting for Netbook owners amongst us :)

As some of you already know, we decided at UDS to produce a new Kubuntu flavor
for Karmic optimized for the netbook form factor.  Here's the spec:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/kubuntu-karmic-netbook-edition

This work is starting to take shape.

The Kubuntu seed collection now includes a set of seeds for netbook.  Please
take care when changing the desktop seed or other Kubuntu seeds that now have
netbook equivalents to include appropriate changes (almost all of them will be
appropriate) to the netbook seeds too.

The kubuntu-meta source package now builds both kubuntu-desktop and a new
metapackage called kubuntu-netbook.  Currenlty it is the same as the desktop,
but we expect this to change.

If you are running Kubuntu Karmic on a netbook and you want to participate in
testing and evaluating what we hope will become the Kubuntu Netbook Edition,
then you can install kubuntu-netbook and remove kubuntu-desktop.  As of now
that should not cause any other changes.  Keep an eye on upgrades and let us
know what you think.

Tonio is working on an appropriate set of default settings for netbooks and
I'm working on getting all the bits of plumbing in place to start to build ISO
images.
