Codec script for Amarok2: is this an option?

Hi all,

so far we get a lot of bug reports from users who simply lack the
necessary codecs. Mark told me that Amarok 1.4.x did have a script
allowing to check for codecs and propose the installation
automatically. So far there is no way to do that in Amarok 2.
A proposition is to prepare a script checking if the codecs are
installed, which is then completed by the distribution packagers with
the package manager of their choice. Of course this needs the
packagers to actually be aware of it and don't miss to fill that in,
else we will be blamed again for the lack of codecs.

Se also these bug reports: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200303
and https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amarok/+bug/346246
for Kubuntu.

Of course, not all distribution use packagekit, that's why I answered
negatively in the Bugzilla bug.

Regards, Myriam.
