Sure. Don't like it, don't use it. I think Amarok users already got it and I 
like saying this myself. However, "Features Amarok 2 will never have" list 
would be nice so remaining 7% of Amarok 1.4 users could stop expecting.

Just from the pure design perspective, trying to be RDBMS neutral isn't 
something completely pointless and might be useful in the future. But it looks 
like that current position is "been there, done that, failed (really?), won't 
do that again". Your call by all means. FWIW, I'm a user from that 93% group 
anyway.
