I understand your desire to get it in trunk for 2.2. However, you have to 
understand things from our point of view too---this has been an oft-promised 
feature with a forever-sliding dump date. Furthermore, as I understand it is 
quite a large change. So holding back the whole release schedule just for this 
has an additional downside---less time for us to test it and polish it up.

So I would recommend leaving the release schedule as it is. There is a lot of 
goodness in amarok 2.2, and the longer we wait the longer users have to sit 
with 2.1. From our schedules of 2.1 and 2.2 i'd expect a 2.3 release in jan or 
feb, which is quite soon already---not a lot of time. 

Not to mention the fact that you can just develop the patch/feature in 
gitorious in parallel (like ian and mine's gcds-dynamic branch).
