Shouldn't it, though?  What about a situation like:

Album: Great Spam Subjects Read Aloud
Album Artist: DJ Jeff's Inbox

Track 1:
    Title: Secure A Loan
    Artist: Sales

Track 2:
    Title: Stimulate Her Grotto Better
    Artist: USA News

etc.

This is a various artist album, but there is clearly an album artist.
