international keyboard layout support

Currently there is no support in plasma active meego image for keyboard layout 
configuration although there is support for it in virtual keyboard shell and 
plasmaboard.
It is possible to configure and change layouts via setxkbmap but virtual 
keyboard don't update itself because it doesn't recieve notifications about 
layout change because there is no keyboard daemon present.
I could write layout configuration module but i can't add keyboard daemon to 
meego image since i can't build it properly (i built it with kde 2.6.4 headers 
but that didn't work).
Is there a possibility to include this daemon module in next images or can you 
tell me how to build it properly for current kde in meego image?
