If the spinner appears where the user last tapped and then moves away,
the user will either follow it with her eyes if she thinks it's still
important
or ignore it because she does other things while e.g. the app is still
starting.
I think this is even better than having it stay there and possible cover
other
things the user might want to interact with while waiting.

+1. Remember: The bouncing icon in Plasma Desktop is actually pretty cute
