puh, maybe a short phone call would shorten up and solve those kind of
discussions more quickly?
So, I try to give feedback as well....

agreed to the criterias, even if i think a lot of our current icons,
also SLC, doesn't fulfill all criterias yet.
#3 and #4 happen to me a lot while interacting with PA.

Also one comment: the order of the icons seems to me kind of random. For
me an audio control is less of priority than
the wifi connections. The order from left to right should display the
hight of priority, no? At least here in europe, where
we read from left to right...

In the Balsam image this is already done, if I understood sebas
correctly. Marco wanted to ask for the patch to apply
the same thing for MeeGo.

Agreed, a clean shut down that offers response to open dialogs and data
questions is needed.
This is why we put the "shut down" in the option dialog.

What do you mean by logout? The normal lockscreen?
Reboot is currently needed because of the instability of the system. In
a better world this should be never needed by an end user, thats
why we dropped it. Every device offers a hard shut down or for example
the WeTab the press of front and back Hardware Button - triggers
a reboot as well.

So, short explanation what the current implementations concept was (as
discussed already in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287228):
- long press on hardware button: hard shutdown. We need this, we have
this, I guess this is sorted.
- short press on hardware button: suppose to trigger the lockscreen
instantly. This would shorten up the multi-step-process as Aaron
suggested. I would go for that as well. If we put another
sleep-in-N-Seconds rule might be a feature of PA3
- Press elsewhere to trigger the other options Lock/Sleep/"smooth"
shutdown: the reason for putting software button in the panel was, that
I asumed we cannot control every hardware button on any device. So I
thought we need another option, in the UI, to offer the user these kind
of functionality. Am I wront here? I agree that a duplicate Lock-Mode is
not urgently necessary. But a distinction between sleep, lock and clean
shutdown is needed, in my opinion.

I understood that the current suggestion covers:
- Locking -> short press on hw button -> here also the option of putting
to sleep
- hard shut down -> long press on hw button

What about the clean shutdown?

Sorry, I got a bit confused by the amount of text in this discussion :/
