>From some more experimentation, when this happens it actually does not paste in
either GTK or QT apps, and I think it might actually be an issue about sending
it incorrectly to the clipboard.

If I open the clipboard, I see the entry is actually there even though it
doesn't paste, but if I click it (so as to make it the current selection), then
next time I try to paste it, it will work correctly.
