I talked to zarin about this last week.
apparently it's an issue with the kde global shortcut stuff: it has a race
condition with kwin for grabbing the keyboard... I forget the details, but it
sounds hard to resolve... :/

btw, the workaround of right-clicking a titlebar and picking 'move' worked for
me; seems anything that gets kwin to give its keyboard-grabbing a kick will
unbreak it. makes the bug a lot less irritating. :)
