How to start contributing to plasma mobile

Hi lads, I've finally reached the stability in my development environment,
and I'd like to start contributing to plasma mobile shell.
I've already found an issue to pick (chiefly for training):
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-mobile/-/issues/137 and the work is
almost done; it seems to be not assigned, so, can I pick it?
And, going forward, can I simply pick an issue from the repo or would you
rather assign one to me?
