Broken Kstars v3.5.0-beta "empty sky"

Following up on my first post, I didn't intent to imply that Kstars 
itself is broken, just my installation of it.  I have been using Kstars 
on Linux and Stellarmate for too long to believe that.  I suspect snaps 
had something to do with the problem.

Sorry for the implication.
