I have a problem with the kdeprinting module; whenever I open up a dialog v=
ia=20
Print... from any KDE app (e.g. kate, konqueror), it shows up and waits the=
re=20
for about a couple of minutes as if searching for all available printers or=
=20
whatever. It just doesn't get repainted for the whole time. Then, I am able=
=20
to make the selections to all the options that are there just immediately.=
=20
When I press the button Properties..., I am to wait several minutes before=
=20
the Properties dialog appears. Again, when I commence the printing, I shoul=
d=20
wait other about five minutes till it starts printing and the printing itse=
lf=20
is slow (this might be a separate problem)

Now, the details:
The printer I'm trying to print is on a Win2k machine.

CUPS is okay, since I can use all the command-line tools with almost no del=
ay.=20
I can print cupsdoprint whatever.ps and it's okay.

HP LaserJet 1220, Foomatic + Postscript
Linux Mandrake (cooker), KDE CVS head
Celeron 375Mhz, 256MB RAM, 10Mbs LAN

Now, I looked at the following logs during the delay
tcdump
~/.xsession-errors
/var/log/syslog
/var/log/messages
/var/log/cups/error_log (with cups LogLevel debug)

but none of them bear any sign of error or slow down.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA,  Jiri
