New string compare panel applet

I'm not too convinced on the usefulness...
Isn't it faster to look closely at two md5sums than to copy/paste them somewhere else?
Is there a popular user request for this on bugs.kde.org?
Comparing two strings doesn't look like a very common non-developer task to me.
