I've been planning to add this support to CMake along with a few other 
install support features.

I also suggest install dir variable names like

   KDE_INSTALL_APP_DIR
   KDE_INSTALL_BIN_DIR

or their lower-case equivalents so that they get grouped together in 
lexicographic ordered listings.
