[FreeNX-kNX] Web browser audio

Hi again!

So I installed esound esound-client and both esd and esddsp runs
perfectly. Also changed the node.conf so ENABLE_ESD_PRELOAD="1" and
uncommented the line after it. Rebooted the server. But still
everything plays except for anything in the web browser. I even tried
running a command line start "esddsp firefox" and no luck. When I run
the full KDE, aromok sound works, all the test sounds work, but once
anything is playing in a browser, konqueror or firefox... nada. Since
most sounds are coming from the flash plugin, is there something I
need to configure for that? Orginally I thought it might be a
permissions issue, but when I log in locally on the server machine,
the website sounds work. It's just the client not working with
website sounds... is there anything else I can try? thank you very
much!

ps: I clicked on that link in the bottom of your reply message to
donate, but all I got was the mail kde info page, with no information
about a email address I could paypal the money to...

Yes, that is good.

To explain. FreeNX uses esd for the sound transport. This means your
application has to be either esd capable or wrapped to send all sounds
to the network instead of the server.

I propose either running firefox under esddsp or using a ESD
compatible backend for, for example amarok.

You can also run the whole session wrapped under esd by specifying the
following configuration keys in node.conf:

ENABLE_ESD_PRELOAD="1"

If this answer helped you, consider adding it to the FAQ.

You can donate to the developers personally if you want :).

For the FreeNX server part this would be (mostly) me:
